On tour in Erfurt

Today our seminar trainers from Dresden and Berlin are on tour in Erfurt. Beginning of May the project “Mix It” brought together vocational students with and without a refugee background together learning how to make videos and develop storylines. Mix It is realized by the Deutschen Filmakademie, bilderbewegen e.V. and the Schwarzkopf Foundation, funded by the family minstry within the framework of the federal programme “Demokratie leben!”, the Federal Agency for Civic Education and the Peter Ustinov Foundation.

Training the (peer) trainers in Porto, Münster and Dresden

Over the first weekend of March, a training event for the Foundation’s peer trainers took place in parallel in Porto (Portugal) and Münster as well as Dresden (Germany). The events focused on either introducing new trainers into the project or strengthening methodological skills and content-knowledge. The training in Porto was supported by Luis Menéndez of the Spanish team of Understanding Europe.

For the Portuguese team, according to Afonso Loureiro, project coordinator in Portugal, “Understanding Europe is of much importance for the Portuguese reality. We want to dismantle preconceptions about the EU. We want to successfully explain what is the EU and how it works. That way we will make youngsters engage more politically and make sure that their voices are heard. We are moved by the possibility of changing mentalities and working with youngsters to improve our EU and keep united in diversity.”

Dutch-German Forum 2017

On 17 – 18 January, the Dutch-German Forum 2017 took place in Berlin. It is a bilateral event supported by the Dutch and German Ministries of Foreign Affairs. For twenty years, the Dutch-German Forum has been serving as a civil society platform for exchange and discussions on current debates, which play a role in the bilateral relations and are of interest for both countries. Since 2012 the Schwarzkopf Foundation and the Dutch Embassy in Berlin organise a media seminar one day before the forum and open the Forum to more young minds and perspectives in Dutch and German relations.
